The Sponsorship of Major Religions
It occurred to me just now that three major religions, Christianity, Buddhism, and Islam were sponsored with financial contributions:

Jesus was bestowed gold, frankinsense, and mir from three wise men.

Muhammad married a successful business woman.

Buddha was born from nobility.

Technically Buddha gave up his kingdom and wealth ;)
Buddhist monks rely on the charity of the people to survive, if they don't receive alms, they don't eat.
They are the ultimate rebels in this day and age when you really think about it.

"Giving up" something is different than "never having" something.

I'm only observing the role wealth has had on enlightenment. I think its an important observation since materialism has a lot of negative connotations attached to it and those three examples, I feel prove otherwise.

If I may assume, Siddhartha being born to nobility was afforded more opportunities such as learning to read, write and the other higher forms of education that are only available to the few literate people of the time.
